FAQs

Q. Can I transfer my entry to someone else?

A. Transfers to another person will be available.

Q. Can I transfer my distance?

Q. Will there be pace runners?

A. Yes. Pacer information can be found here.

Q. Can I run with a pram?

A. Yes - you are welcome to run with a pram in any of the distances, however we please ask out of courtesy to other runners to please start at the back.

Q. Can I run with headphones?

A. Running with headphones is not recommended, however we do allow the use of these while participating. If you choose to wear headphones, please ensure the volume is at a reasonable level so that you are able to hear instruction from course officials. Please keep to the left when possible, to allow for faster runners to pass easily. Failure to follow instruction on course will result in automatic disqualification.

Q. When can I collect my bib and merchandise?

Q. Will you post out my race bib?

Your race Bib can be mailed to you. Just select the “Bib Postage” option during Registration.

If you forgot to choose that option you still can via the MyActive web portal. The steps are:

  1. Log in to you Active account here.
  2. Find our event and select Purchase Merchandise.
  3. You will be able to add Bib Postage to your entry. The fee to mail out your Bib is $15 plus a small processing fee.

You will receive your Bib in the mail between Friday 3rd July 2025 and Friday 10th July 2025 If you have not received your bib by Friday 10th July 2025 please come to see us at the Transfer Desk at Registration on Saturday 12 July 2025.

Please note Bib postage is offered up until midnight Monday 2 June, 2024. After that time we cannot offer to post your Bib to you and you must collect your Bib. It must be collected on Saturday 12 July 2024 from the Registration Desk at the Race Precinct 

Q. I opted for bib postage, how do I collect my FREE EVENT TEE?

Some distances (Full Marathon, Half Marathon & 10km) have the option of a free event T-Shirt included with your entry. These will be available for collection from Registration and the Merchandise Store at the times below:

  • Saturday 12th July 2025, 9:00am – 4:00pm (collect from Registration)
  • Sunday 13th July 2025 6:30am-12:30pm (collect from Merchandise store as Registration is closed)

Any free merchandise must be collected at the event.  No merchandise will be mailed out prior to or after race day.

Q. Will you post out my pre-purchased merchandise? 

No, all pre-purchased merchandise will be available for collection at the times below:

  • Saturday 12th July 2025, 9:00am – 4:00pm (collect from Merchandise store)
  • Sunday 13th July 2025 6:30am-12:30pm (collect from Merchandise store)

Any purchased merchandise must be collected at the event.  No merchandise will be mailed out prior to or after race day.

Q. Is the event a qualifier for the World's Major's?

A. Yes. This course has AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races)course certification. Rest assured the 7Cairns Marathon Festival events follow strict guidelines to ensure the distance you are completing is accurately measured. The event provides the ideal opportunity to set a personal best or recording a qualifying time for the major marathons around the world.

Q. Do I need to enter if I am running with my child?

A. Yes all persons participating need to register.  If you are already entered in an alternative distance and would like to accompany your child you do not need to enter again.  Please leave your bib on and run in the shorter distance.  You will only receive the time for the event you are entered in.

Q. What are the cut off times?

42.2km – 6hr cut off

21.1km – 3.5hr cut off

10km – 2hr cut off

You are welcome to walk the 5km and 2km events, but please be mindful that roads will reopen at 12:00pm, with interim checkpoints.

Q. Are personal drinks allowed on course?

A. All marathon participants will have the opportunity to access their own personal ‘special needs drinks’ at the aid station closest to the event precinct.  This will be at the 10.5km, 21km & 31.5km points.  Although not compulsory, we invite you to utilise this service.  If you wish to have your own personal drinks placed on course by our team, please clearly mark and place in the special need boxes at bib collection no later than 2pm on Saturday 12 July 2025.

Q. What date determines the competitor's age category?

A. The age group determination is taken from the competitor's age on race day

Q. Is there somewhere I can leave my belongings when I run?

A. Bag drop will be exclusively at the Event Precinct - Fogarty Park from 5:00am on Sunday 13 July. Participants will be able to leave their personal items in the 'gear tent' whilst running. All participants will receive a special tear off tag on their race bib. We ask you tear off this tag and attach to your belongings before you drop your bag off. We recommend you do not leave valuables. Extra layers left at the start line will be collected donated to charity.

Where is my timing chip?

A. Your timing chip is attached to the back of your race bib and we use electronic timing.  Your personal race time (or net time) will be recorded as you cross the timing mats on the start line and will finish when you cross the finish line mats at the end.

Note: Your official time for category placings is based on your gun time and does not take into account your net time.

Q. How do I enter a team?

A: Teams are a great addition to the 7Cairns Marathon Festival. It's a great opportunity for family, friends or work colleagues to come together and work towards a common fitness goal. Team members don't have to run the same distance. Please click here for instructions on how to register your team.

Q. We are a team, can we put up our team tent?

A. You absolutely can, but you must contact us to be allocated a space number. See more details here.

Q. I am a food or drink vendor, where can I apply for a spot at the Event?

A. Food and drink vendors will be limited and contacted directly by the Atlas Events Team.

Q. What is the weather like in Cairns?

Weather conditions are generally quite warm all year round. Winter mornings in Cairns range from around 17 degrees and warming up to 27 degrees Celsius during the day. Generally, a low chance of rainfall. For more weather statistics click here.

Q. Where are the best places to park for the event?

A. On street parking if free all-day Sunday; and on public holidays. There is no time limit during these times, however regulations regarding using disability bays, loading zones, bus zones and taxi zones are still enforced.

Q. Can I participate in a racing wheelchair? 

Racing wheelchair entrants are invited to compete in the Wheelchair Marathon, Wheelchair Half Marathon and Wheelchair 10km. You must be 17 years or older for the Wheelchair Marathon, 14 years or older for the Half Marathon, 12 years or older for the Wheelchair 10km.

No hand cycles are permitted. The 7Cairns Marathon is conducted under Athletics Australia, World Para Athletics and World Athletics rules which clearly state that the Wheelchair Marathon is an athletics event and only a recognised racing wheelchair is permitted. No mechanical gears are permitted on the chair.

Q. Can I participate in a day wheelchair? 

Atlas Events has strong risk management concerns about the inclusion of participants other than runners in our events based on the known congestion and inattentive behaviour of some runners and the potential for accidents to occur. Day wheelchairs may participate in any race (except for the Wheelchair Marathon, Wheelchair Half Marathon and Wheelchair 10km (which are for racing wheelchair competitors only). For the safety of yourself and others, we recommend affixing a flag to your wheelchair and starting from the very rear of the starting field in each race. However, if you are an experienced participant you may elect to start in the start zone based on your anticipated finish time. Please note, age restrictions apply for each race.

Hand cycles are not permitted.

Q. I am a companion for a person with a disability who has already entered to participate in this event and would like to accompany them on the course. How do I register?

A. You can apply here for a companion entry.

Q. Can I bring my dog?

A. Dogs are allowed in the event precinct on a leash. Dogs are NOT allowed on course.  You must pick up any dog droppings.
